School Child Care
This program is specifically designed to provide social, educational and recreational activities for grades K-5. The program is Maryland State Licensed and operates Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. during the Wicomico County School calendar year. Parents must pick-up their child/children from the YMCA no later than 6:00 p.m. Our staff is comprised of caring individuals who will give your child special attention. We will also provide the necessary time to complete homework assignments and provide assistance for students. All required paperwork must be completed before anyone can attend. This includes all medical information forms including a physical. Packets can be picked up at the front desk of the YMCA.
All activities, including the following will take place at the Mid-Shore Family YMCA:

  • The YMCA will provide transportation from the following schools to the YMCA daily; however, we must have a minimum of three (3) students from each school in order to provide transportation.

  • Middle School Youth Program
    Program is designed to provide social, educational, recreational, fitness and community service activities for students in grades 6-8.  Students will take on leadership roles while helping to plan activities.  The program is Maryland State Licensed and operates Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. during the Wicomico County Public School calendar year.  We will provide the necessary time to try and complete homework assignments.  Most activities will take place at the YMCA with some short offsite field trips.

    The YMCA will provide transportation from the following Wicomico County Schools

    to the YMCA daily:

    Bennett Middle        Salisbury Middle        Wicomico Middle

    Please Note: We must have a minimum of three (3) students from each school in order to provide transportation.  Children must be picked up from the YMCA no later than 6:00 p.m.  All required paperwork must be completed before anyone can attend; including a physical and all other medical information forms.  Packets can be picked up at the front desk of the YMCA.

    School Age Child Care & Middle School Youth Session Fees and Dates

    Sessions are on a per month basis; therefore payments will be due the last day of the current month for the next session.  Fees for June will be determined in May of 2006 when we know for sure when the last day of school is.

    School Days Out
    The YMCA offers a program for grades K-8 during the Wicomico County Public School vacations.  Activities are the same as the School Age Child Care Program.  It operates from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and space is limited.  Children not enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program must complete and turn in required paperwork before your child can attend.  All medical forms,  including a physical and immunization records are required.  All School Days Out participants must be registered 5 days in advance of the School Days Out.   Payments and registration will not be accepted the day of the Days Out.

    Fees per Days Out for children enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program:

    YMCA Members    $3.00        Program Members    $5.00

    Fees per Days Out for children not enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program:

    YMCA Members    $15.00        Program Members    $25.00

    Camp Sign-Up Months
    Camp Discovery registration packets will be available at the YMCA front desk on March 1, 2006.  Please pick up packets and complete all required paperwork prior to registering.  No registration will be accepted until the necessary paperwork has been reviewed by the Camp Director.  If registrations are made no later than April 30, $10.00 will be deducted from each session of camp paid in full and the child will receive a free Camp Discovery T-Shirt.  Please call Brenda Fincher at 410-749-0101 ext. 104 to schedule an appointment to have your paperwork reviewed prior to registering.

     

    Camp Discovery - Ages 5-12 (must complete Kindergarten)
    Campers will be involved in activities planned especially for their age group.  Emphasis is placed on encouraging each child's development both as an individual and as a member of a group.  Our goal is to guide children through a variety of experiences that help them become more comfortable and responsible for their environment.  Camp will operate Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.  All registrations are due the Wednesday before the session starts.  Any registrations received after the Wednesday due date will be charged a $25.00 late fee.  Activities Include:  swimming in our outdoor pool every day (weather permitting), outdoor & indoor games & sports, arts & crafts, nature activities, skits, singing, computer time, games in our air-conditioned racquetball courts, and time in our game room which features pool, bumper pool, ping-pong, foosball, air hockey and interactive video games.

    Free special events planned for this summer include:

    Shorebirds Game, fishing in the City Park, trips to the Salisbury Zoo, cookouts, ice cream sundaes, tie-dying T-shirts, special quest speakers and other fun surprises.

    Field Trips:

    Field trips are planned closer to home in consideration of the affordability of each trip.  We understand that parents may be unable to afford all of the trips.  Most field trips are an additional cost weekly.  For those campers not attending a field trip, camp will still operate under normal hours.  Please note that there is a limit to the number of campers that can attend each field trip.  Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Some field trips require a parent/guardian to accompany children 6 and under.

    PRESCHOOL AGE


    Willy Y Pre School Ages 3-5 (Must be potty-trained)
     

    Recreation Swim: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
    Designed to introduce children to water. They will receive assistance and encouragement in basic water safety skills but this is not formal swimming lessons.
    Fees:    YMCA Members    $25.00        Program Members    $35.00

    Crafts & Learning: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
    Children are introduced to letters, numbers, colors, days of the week, calendar activities story time and creative arts and crafts.

    Creative Movement: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 11:00-12:00 p.m.
    This program includes various rhythmic running, musical and quiet games to further develop motor skills. Participants will practice throwing, catching and kicking playground balls.

    Monthly Fees for all three classes:

    Registration Deadline for all classes is the last day of the current month for the next monthly session.  Monthly Willy Y Preschool Program will end May 31, 2006.

     

    **NEW** Melody Hounds **NEW**
    All aboard the Melody Hounds Music Train.  Introduce your preschooler to music through this unique 10 week parent/child program designed to expand the musical and rhythmical potential of children 0 to 6 years of age.  The Melody Hounds program is brought to you by the co-creators of the celebrated, award winning PBS series "Sesame Street" and "Between the Lions".  Classes are based on a new PBS Muppet and Puppet interactive TV show called "Lomax...The Hound of Music" which will debut in 2007.  A special offer for first time enrollees is each child will receive a free Melody Hounds T-shirt.  For more information on this exciting new program, please contact Brenda Fincher at 410-749-0101 ext. 104 or visit the Melody Hounds website at www.melodyhounds.com.

    This room includes ping-pong, pool table, bumper pool table and air hockey tables, along with video games and board games.
