YOUTH & ADULT SPORTS PROGRAMS

General Sports Information

Parents

All good programs start with good volunteers!  Please register to be a volunteer coach for one of our youth sports programs.  This is your opportunity to make a difference.  Please contact ReBecca Arnold if you are interested.

 

Y Super Sports Gym Rules

  1. Please refrain from eating or drinking in the gym; except water.

  2. Dunking and hanging on the basketball rims or soccer/field hockey goals is not permitted.

  3. Please do not hang on the gym curtains and stand clear of them when they are being lowered.

  4. Refrain from using foul language.

  5. Please dress appropriately for the activity you are participating; sneakers, shorts/pants and shirts at all times.

  6. All patrons must enter and exit from the front door of the YMCA.  No one is permitted to enter through the outside gym doors.

  7. Have your membership card/guest pass available for spot checks.

  8. The gym monitor is in charge of the gym and will enforce all rules.  You can and will be asked to leave for breaking any of the above rules.

Gym Schedule

A monthly gym schedule will be available outside of gym doors.  Please check the availability of programs, open gym and also when the gym will be closed before coming out each night.  We will be offering programs throughout the winter for youth and adults therefore limiting the open gym times.  We reserve the right to make schedule changes when necessary.  Notification will be made whenever possible.  Maximum 11 point pick up games in order to give all players an opportunity to play.

 

Pee Wee Sports - Ages 2-4 years old

They shoot...they score!  Introducing children to the fundamentals of a variety of sports in a Christian environment.  Each week we will learn a new sport, including soccer, football, basketball, t-ball and more.  Activities are designed to develop the child's balance, motor skills, hand-eye coordination, socialization skills, confidence and self-esteem.  We encourage parent participation to help enhance the learning environment.

Days & Times:     Tuesday     5:30-6:00 p.m.

Fees:     YMCA Members     $12.00     Program Members     $25.00

*Must register one week in advance of new session.  We must have 6-10 children per session in order to run the program.

 

Home School P.E. - Ages 5-15

This Physical Education program has been designed to encourage children to get up and move!  Each week they will participate in swimming and staff led games/sports or fitness activities.  Children will be divided into the following age groups: 5-8 and 9-15 years.  Our younger children will swim from 1:00-1:45 p.m. while the older children participate in the gym activities from 1:00-2:00 p.m.  Fifteen minutes has been set aside for parents to help the 5-8 year olds change if necessary.  The swimming part of the program will consist of water safety and free swim as well as basic lessons.  Children will switch activities at 2:00 p.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Fees:    

YMCA Members        $35.00 for first child; $30.00 for each additional child in the same family

YMCA Rookies; Biddy Basketball - Ages 4-6

Your child will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball in a non-competitive environment under the guidance of a certified Physical Education Teacher.  Space is limited to the first 15 players.

Location:     YMCA Court a

Days & Times:     Thursday     5:30-6:00 p.m.

Session Dates:     January 8, 15, 22, 29, 2008

Fees:     YMCA Members        $15.00      Program Members     $20.00

 

Girls Indoor Field Hockey Clinic - Girls Grades 3-8

Participants will need an indoor stick, mouth and shin guards.  More information will be made available at a later date.  Session will begin in January on Saturday mornings and be run by Susan Pusey, Head Field Hockey Coach for Pocomoke High School.  Girls will be divided into two groups depending on age/skill level.

 

Indoor Field Hockey and Soccer Tournaments

Tournaments will occur beginning early 2008.  We will hold tournaments on Saturdays.  Field Hockey will take place in the early part of the day and Soccer in the afternoon.  Dates, times and fees will be made available at a later date.  If you would like more information, please contact ReBecca Arnold at rarnold@middelmarvaymca.org.

 

T-Ball

An instructional program designed to teach children the basic skills and rules of the game including catching, throwing, hitting and running of the bases under the instruction of a certified Physical Education Teacher. 

Location:     Softball field of the Lower Shore Family YMCA

Ages:  4-6 years old

Days & Times:     Tuesday  5:45-6:15 p.m.

Session Dates:    April 1, 8, 15, 22, 2008

Fees:     YMCA Members        $15.00      Program Members     $20.00

 

Facility Rentals

Need a place for indoor or outdoor practice?  We will rent our outdoor fields to your group so that you can practice for your travel tournaments and games.  Indoor space will be available in one, two or three court rentals.  Times will be limited due to YMCA programming.  Call today to reserve space for your group.

Indoor Rentals:  $20.00 per court per hour

Outdoor Rentals:  $20.00 per field per hour

Outdoor Pavilion:  $20.00 per hour    $50.00 for 4 hours    $100.00 for 8 hours
