Chincoteague Family YMCA
History:
Over a year ago, a community
meeting was held to gauge the level of interest of beginning a YMCA on
Chincoteague. Over 120 people attended. A committee was formed and
volunteers began organizing and running programs. The Mid-Delmarva
Family YMCA, who operates branches in both Salisbury and Pocomoke, worked with
the volunteers to help organize and facilitate their progress. In
January 2007, an official Board of Managers was formed. The volunteers
continue to organize programs.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
Youth Swim Lessons
Swim lessons will be taught by
Marilyn Ailes for children in Grade 1 and older. Registration will be on
May 19, 2008 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Chincoteague Scout House. All
participants must be registered prior to taking swim lessons.

Cruise to Remember - Call now for a reservation!
Kick off the summer season with a
relaxing sunset cruise. The boat, the Tortuga, driven by Captain Shawn
Giacobbe, will depart from the Curtis Merritt Harbor promptly at 7:00 p.m. and
take passengers out into the bay to enjoy the beautiful sights of Chincoteague
Island. Your hosts will provide wine and cheese. This trip is for
passengers over 21 years of age. Please call Margot at 757.336.1884 or
Mary Alice at 757.336.3144 to make reservations, HURRY! Space is
limited!

YMCA "Chincoteague Hoofers"
Jog over to join the NEW
Chincoteague Family YMCA Running/Walking Club. Meetings on the first
Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Hampton Inn dining area.
Advise, stories, news, information and friendship await you. All you
have to do to join is show up at a meeting. Then on the third Tuesday of
every month at 7:00 p.m. the club will meet at various locations to
participate in fun, self-paced group runs and walks. For more
