Chincoteague Family YMCA
History:
Over a year ago, a community
meeting was held to gauge the level of interest of beginning a YMCA on
Chincoteague. Over 120 people attended. A committee was formed and
volunteers began organizing and running programs. The Mid-Delmarva
Family YMCA, who operates branches in both Salisbury and Pocomoke, worked with
the volunteers to help organize and facilitate their progress. In
January 2007, an official Board of Managers was formed. The volunteers
continue to organize programs.

YMCA "Chincoteague Hoofers"
A free running/walking club that
meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Chincoteague Senior
Center.
Cruise on the Torguga
On Saturday, August 1, 2009, cruise
around the Island on the Tortuga. The cost is $25.00 per person and
light refreshments will be served. Please call Mary Alice Birch at

Yard Sale
Michael's Jewelry will have a Yard
Sale on Saturday, September 5, 2009 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please call

Self Defense and Tai Chi with Elton Trower
A six-week session of each class on
Tuesdays beginning September 8, 2009 at the Senior Citizens Center. The
cost is $65.00 per person per session. Times will be determined at a

Dinner/Auction
On Saturday, September 26, 2009,
there will be a dinner/auction at the Chincoteague Firehouse starting at 6:00
p.m. Dinner of roast turkey, dumplings, clam fritters and all the
trimmings. Live and silent auction items. Tickets are $20.00 each.
